Medical Case Study When Jim Bergeron of JPI Data Resource met with Bonnie Loker, Billing Manager of Thibodaux Regional Medical Center (TRMC), she and the billing staff were drowning in paper.  EOB’s and patient insurance cards were overflowing from boxes in the billing office.   With no means of storing or sorting these documents, valuable time and energy were wasted sifting through the paper.  It was luck to find the needed documents to process a claim.   With a high-speed Canon Scanner and the LaserFiche Document Imaging solution from JPI, the billing staff simply used their workstations to search thousands of documents and retrieve the exact paper they needed.  All 20 staff members were trained and using LaserFiche in a matter of days.   “Now in a matter of seconds multiple people can access all paper documents, find the one they need and then forward it with a claim via e-mail – all without leaving their desks.  The best part is that we added two more desks in the place where all the files used to sit.  We truly are paperless.” Bonnie Loker   The Hospital plans to roll out more than a hundred users in various departments to include medical records, H.R. patient services, and admitting.  It is hard to measure the overall increase in productivity, but it is certain that billing staff now works on billing and not searching for missing or lost patient files.
